playing catch up - again

I've been out of town for practically THREE weeks in a row. I was already "behind" with Project Life before I went out of town. I came back home on Friday and worked Sat & Sun. Last night I dove into the pile of photos and papers I had strewn about my Project Life table. I knocked out 4 weeks worth and still have 2 more to be fully  "caught up". I'm loving how the project is progressing and seeing my style develop more. I'm not a "scrapbooker", but I've always loved paper and scissors and stickers. I'm hoping to finish up the two weeks today.

If playing catch up isn't enough, it's almost time to do "A Week in the Life 2012". I did this project last year for the first time and I LOVED how my album turned out (part uno, part dos). I did a hybrid layout by making a photo book in iLife and then adding embellishments and writing into it after it was delivered. I kept up day by day with blog posts throughout the week. I'm always inspired by her projects and it's really fun to follow along with everyone else that joins in for this project. 

I don't know if I'm going to plan anything specific or just sorta wing it like I did last year. I am kinda liking her 8.5x11 digital templates. We'll see how it goes!

Project Life: playing catch up

Tonight I caught up on FIVE weeks of Project Life. I had my photos printed at Target through Shutterfly and picked them up a couple hours later. Once I organized them and dated them I just started cutting, pasting, writing and sticking stuff down. It's not perfect, it's life.

These photos are from last week's layout. I'm hoping I can keep up better, but I'm traveling a lot this month, so we shall see.

project life 2012: week dos

8-14 JAN 2012

This week was pretty much a blur. I worked right through the weekend into this week. Needless to say, come Friday I was exhausted.

It had been unseasonably warm in KY until this week when it got REALLY cold and we had some snow. I did get to hang out with Cameron on Friday, which was pretty cool. I'm amazed at how much he has grown and changed in the 3+ years I've lived with him and Andrea. I didn't take many photos this week, but I like filling in with cool papers and even trying out something that goes across two pockets. I'm excited to try this with a large photo, maybe using up all four 4x6 pockets.

project life 2012: week uno

Since I'm using a 2009 Project 365 kit, my pages are different than everyone using the 2012 versions. I have to say, I do like how the new kits have so many options that you can buy separately if you want. I purchased the Clementine core kit, since I wasn't really feeling the style of the 2009 cards. They may, however, crop up from time to time... we shall see.

 

Anywho, here is week 1 for me. I started on Sunday since that was January 1st.

 

 

 

 

Project Life 2012 (revisiting Project 365 circa 2009)

After moving back to KY in the summer of 2008, I started attempting digital scrapbooking. I had not done any scrapbooking of any kind in YEARS, I'm talking like 7 or 8. I was never even really a "scrapbooker" per-say, but I loved fun papers and photos and liked the idea of it; I just never really got around to actually doing it. Anywho... I discovered digital scrapbooking and blogs like Ali Edwards and Becky Higgins were at the top of my list (as were other blogs I found with awesome photobooks: I devoured like every page of Elise & Jamacia's blogs when I first saw their photobooks). I still wasn't finding the time to make much, but I was definately inspired by all these lovely ladies.

Fast forward to December 2008 and I read this post on Beck Higgin's blog. A new way to scrapbook? Easy? Fun? I was intriguied. In fact I followed the announcement of her Project 365 kit and I even set my alarm so that I could ensure I was able to purchase one. I was excited to get the box and start filling it up with journaling and photos. I made it to about mid-Feburary before I stopped. Until the first week of January 2012 that sad barely filled up album was stored away in an ottoman at the foot of my bed.

Again, I've been filled with inspiration by my same faves from the past as well as some new to me extremely talented ladies (Kelly Purkey, Amy Tan, Michelle Clement, and Allison Waken). I love paper, and I love what these people do with their scrapbook pages. I especially like seeing the pages of the ladies with no kiddos. I have nothing against scrapbooking photos of children, but I think that somehow there is a stero-type you have nothing to document if you don't have kids.

Ok.. so enough babbling by me. Long story short: I pulled out that old 2009 Project 265 binder and pages and started anew in 2012. I gave it a little facelift, bought some new cards and I'm giving it a go. Yes... I'm worried about my committment issues and being able to stick with this, but I don't care... I'm going for it anyway.
