Kerry texted me a while back with a photo of her new baby and I was super excited for her. I will let her introduce you to her newest endeavor:
Meet Fifinella, Fifi for short.
She's a 1962 Shasta Airflyte trailer. I found her online close to where my father-in-law lives. I have been perusing the classified ads for a few years now with no serious intention of buying a trailer, but knowing someday I would probably get one. I was always to nervous to buy something like that on the internet, thinking I might end up with a bigger mess than I could handle. I found this one in the ads and it was close by to someone I actually knew that could take a look at it for me. When my father-in-law went and took a look at it, I was surprised when he said it was actually really solid and in good shape. He's big into remodeling vintage British cars so I trusted his opinion and was able to get the trailer for much lower than asking price. The previous owner recently purchased a Shasta Compact and wanted this to go to someone that would use it. So my father-in-law loaded it up and took it back to his place. He rigged up the brakes and lights and a week later my hubs drove up to his high school class reunion and towed her all the way back to Florida from Indiana for me. I still have yet to see her in person since I deployed a few days before she got to Florida but I'm already dreaming of taking her out on the road and sitting beneath the awning with a nice campfire.
I went with the name Fifi, after the WWII WASP mascot Fifinella. She was the Disney winged gremlin that would taunt WWII pilots and mess with their aircraft causing trouble. I know this gremlin will be a labor of love fixing her up, but well worth it in the end. I can't wait to get years of enjoyment camping with her.
Here are some before pictures and some mood boards I've done up. I'm leaning towards the lighter colored mood board to make it a little more light and airy on the inside. Any thoughts or ideas?
